Our verdict on Bnine
3.8/5
Bninecash editorial rating
Scored on advance limits, eligibility, user experience, availability, transparency and cost. See the score breakdown.
Bnine is a useful tool for one specific person: someone with steady, predictable pay who is willing to make B9 their main bank account and who will use advances often enough to justify a monthly fee. For that person, the high Premium ceiling and the ITIN acceptance are real advantages over most paycheck apps.
For anyone who needs cash this week, has irregular income, or only wants an advance once or twice a year, Bnine is a poor fit. You cannot draw anything until your first paycheck lands in B9, first advances are small, and the membership fee keeps running every month.
What we like
- Up to $1,000 per pay period on Premium
- No credit check, no interest, no late fees
- Accepts ITIN and SSN
- Counts gig pay and SSI benefits
- FDIC-insured deposits through Evolve Bank & Trust
What we don't
- Monthly fee even in months you don't borrow
- New users often start at $10 to $50
- Nothing available before your first deposit
- Any deposit repays the advance first
- Fees on instant cash-outs to other apps
How Bnine works
B9 is built around payroll, not credit. Instead of checking your credit report, Bnine looks at the money flowing into your B9 account. You open the account in the app, verify your identity with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, and point your direct deposit at B9.
Once at least $100 in payroll or benefits deposits has arrived within the last 14 days and your repayment history is in good standing, the app shows an available advance. You can cash out the full amount in one withdrawal. When your next paycheck lands, B9 takes the advance back automatically. There is no separate bill.
Your limit is not fixed. B9 says it grows based on how much you deposit, how often you are paid, and your account and spending activity. Premium members can reach up to $1,000 per pay period; Basic members up to $250. See our full Bnine cash advance guide for how the limit behaves in practice.
What Bnine costs
The advance itself carries no interest, but Bnine is not free. You pay a membership: $9.99 a month for Basic, or $19.99 a month for Premium, which drops to $6.99 a month if you pay $83.88 for a full year. B9 waives the membership entirely if $5,000 or more is direct-deposited to your B9 account each month. Instant transfers to your card or to apps like Cash App and Venmo cost extra and are not included in the membership.
That fee matters most when advances are small. A $9.99 fee on a single $50 advance is the same as paying about 20% of the amount for two weeks of access. Our Bnine cost calculator shows the real cost for your own pattern of use.
What Bnine users say
On Trustpilot, B9 holds a 4.0 TrustScore from about 1,174 reviews, with 74% five-star and 15% one-star ratings. On Google Play the app shows 4.5 stars from over 20,000 reviews. Satisfied users mention the easy app, early pay and reliable advances once their deposits are set up.
Negative reviews cluster around the same issues: being charged a membership fee before seeing any advance, not qualifying until the first paycheck arrives, transfer fees for moving money to other apps, and slow or unhelpful support. We cover these in detail in Is Bnine legit?
Who should use Bnine
- Good fit: hourly and salaried workers, gig drivers or SSI recipients with regular deposits who will use B9 as their main account.
- Good fit: workers with an ITIN who are turned away by apps that require an SSN.
- Poor fit: anyone who needs money before their next paycheck arrives, since B9 needs a deposit first.
- Poor fit: occasional users. If you only need an advance a few times a year, a no-subscription app may cost less. Compare Bnine alternatives.
How we reviewed Bnine: we read B9's published terms, plan pages and app store listings, and analyzed patterns in public user reviews. We did not receive payment from B9. See our editorial policy.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bnine worth it?
Bnine is worth it if you have steady deposits, will make B9 your main account and use advances regularly. If you only need an advance occasionally, the monthly fee usually makes it more expensive than no-subscription apps.
How long does it take to get a Bnine advance?
You need your first qualifying deposit to land in your B9 account before any advance is available. After that, eligible members can cash out their available limit in one withdrawal; instant delivery to outside accounts may cost a fee.
Does Bnine report to credit bureaus?
The B9 Advance is not a loan and does not require a credit check. B9 says it will not use debt collection or report an unpaid advance to credit bureaus. The separate B9 Credit Builder product is designed to report payment history.
What happens if I don't repay a Bnine advance?
B9 states it has no legal or contractual claim against you for an unpaid advance, but you will not get new advances until the previous one is repaid.
