Where Bnine advances are not available

B9 publishes a short exclusion list with its advance terms. The B9 Advance is not offered in six states, and it is capped below the normal Premium limit in one more.

Everywhere else, including Washington, D.C., the advance is offered subject to B9's normal eligibility rules. The list comes from B9's published advance terms. State rules for paycheck advance apps change quickly, so confirm availability in the B9 app before moving your direct deposit.

What the Connecticut cap means

In Connecticut you can still open a B9 account and use the advance, but the ceiling is $750 per pay period instead of the $1,000 Premium maximum. For most members this makes little practical difference at first: B9 says new users usually start between $10 and $50, and the average approved Premium advance was about $332 as of July 2026. The cap only matters once your deposits are large and regular enough to push your limit past $750.

Why some states are excluded

Paycheck advance products sit in a fast-moving area of state law. Several states have passed or proposed rules for earned wage access that cover licensing, fee disclosures and how optional charges are treated. When rules change, providers sometimes pause service in a state while they adjust, or set a lower cap. B9 does not publish its reasons state by state, so we don't guess at them here.

What if you move to another state?

  • Moving into an excluded state: expect advances to stop once your address changes. Repay any open advance first; B9 will not issue new advances while a balance remains.
  • Moving out of an excluded state: update your address in the app and keep your direct deposit going to B9. Your limit is based on deposit history, so a steady record helps.
  • Moving into Connecticut: your ceiling drops to $750 even if you previously qualified for more.

If you live in an excluded state

You may still be able to open a B9 account for everyday banking and the B9 Visa debit card, but you should not expect a paycheck advance. Other options include apps that link to your existing bank, early direct deposit accounts, or a small personal loan from a regulated lender. Each has its own state list and costs; see Bnine alternatives or compare regulated loan offers on our apply page.
