What the B9 Visa debit card is
Every Bnine account comes with the B9 Visa debit card. It is a regular Visa debit card linked to your B9 balance, issued by Evolve Bank & Trust, Member FDIC. You can use it anywhere Visa is accepted and add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Cashback
B9 advertises up to 5% cashback, available on both Basic and Premium. According to B9, it works like this:
- Pick your categories each month. You select your top spending categories in the app.
- Spend at least $200 in them. Cashback starts once you spend $200 within your selected categories that month.
- Rewards land in a rewards account after each eligible transaction settles. The percentage can vary by category.
- Some transactions never qualify, including cash advances, balance transfers, account fees, money orders, wire transfers, lottery tickets and gambling.
- Close your account before a payout and you lose it. Undistributed cashback is forfeited if you close your account before disbursement.
Rewards are offered and managed by B9, not by the card's issuing bank, and the program can change. Read the Cashback Rewards Disclosure you receive with your cardholder agreement.
Deposits and safety
Money held in your B9 account is FDIC-insured up to $250,000 through Evolve Bank & Trust. B9 says it follows the PCI-DSS standard to protect card data. The account has no minimum balance requirement and no overdraft fees.
A few users report card transactions going through while the card was locked in the app. If you use card locking as a safety measure, set up transaction alerts too, and report anything unusual to B9 support right away.
How the card connects to the Bnine advance
When you draw an advance into your B9 account, you can spend it immediately with the card. B9 also lists spending activity as one of the factors behind your advance limit, so regular card use can help your limit over time.
Limitations
- Some users report they cannot add cash to Apple Wallet with the card, even though Apple Pay purchases work.
