Bnine requirements checklist

To open a Bnine account and qualify for a B9 Advance you need all of the following:

  • Age and identity: an adult able to pass B9's identity verification.
  • SSN or ITIN: B9 accepts either a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
  • A paid membership: Basic ($9.99/mo) or Premium ($19.99/mo, or $6.99/mo billed yearly). B9 waives the fee with $5,000+ in monthly deposits.
  • Direct deposit to B9: your paycheck or benefits must be deposited into your B9 account.
  • At least $100 in deposits within 14 days: from payroll or benefits, into your B9 account.
  • Good repayment history: any earlier advance must be fully repaid.
  • An eligible state: advances are not available in six states. See Bnine state availability.

What Bnine does not require

There is no credit check, soft or hard, for opening the account or getting an advance. There is no minimum balance, and you do not need a traditional bank account elsewhere. You also do not need a single full-time employer: B9 counts gig work, part-time jobs and benefits.

Bnine with an ITIN

ITIN acceptance is one of Bnine's clearest differences from competing paycheck apps, most of which require an SSN. If you work in the U.S. and file taxes with an ITIN, you can open a B9 account and qualify for advances under the same deposit rules as everyone else. See Bnine with an ITIN. B9 also offers customer support in English and Spanish.

Bnine for SSI and benefits recipients

Government benefits such as SSI count toward the $100 deposit requirement when they are deposited directly into your B9 account. Keep in mind that repayment comes out of your next deposit, which may be your next benefit payment. See Bnine for SSI and benefits.

Common reasons people don't qualify

  • The first paycheck has not reached B9 yet. Nothing is available until it does.
  • Deposits fell just short of $100 within the 14-day window. One user missed eligibility by about $8 when day 15 rolled over.
  • Only part of the paycheck is routed to B9, keeping the account below the threshold.
  • An earlier advance has not been fully repaid.
  • You live in a state where advances are not offered.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bnine check credit?

No. B9 does not run a soft or hard credit inquiry to open an account or to approve an advance.

Can I use Bnine without direct deposit?

You can open an account, but you cannot get a B9 Advance without at least $100 in payroll or benefits deposits to your B9 account within the last 14 days.

Does Bnine accept ITIN?

Yes. B9 accepts both SSN and ITIN to open a B9 account.

Need more than a paycheck advance?

If a B9 Advance will not cover the gap, you can compare personal loan offers from lenders in a third-party network. Checking offers is separate from B9.
